Meet Laura

I started my career on the studio floor, working as a Paint and Roto Artist at some of the world's leading VFX studios, including ILM, Framestore, and Cinesite, across titles such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange, His Dark Materials, and The Mandalorian.
That hands-on experience gave me a real understanding of what it takes to work in this industry, and what studios are actually looking for when they hire.
From there, my career moved toward the people side of the business. As a Talent Manager and Compositing Department Manager, I recruited and supported artists at studios across Canada. As Career Development Specialist at Think Tank Training Centre, I managed a graduate talent database of over 400 students, coached candidates through every stage of the job search, and placed graduates directly into roles at studios including ILM, Sony Imageworks, and Disney.
I've reviewed hundreds of applications, sat across the table in interviews, and worked directly with recruiters and hiring managers to understand what moves a candidate forward and what holds them back. I know how studios think from first-hand experience, and I know how recruiters think because I've been one.
Studio Ready exists because I wanted to make that knowledge accessible. Whether you're building your first resume, preparing for an interview, or trying to figure out where to even start, these resources give you the honest, practical guidance that the industry doesn't always make easy to find.
